FILM RATINGS

Casciente Films has its own independent film ratings symbols which it uses to grade its own independent films internally.

Our film certificate ratings are based on the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) certificate ratings, however we do not certify our films through the BBFC unless we have clearly stated so on our film release posters or film descriptions.

Certifying an independent film through the BBFC is voluntary and not compulsory and not required for our film releases.

BBFC certification isn't legally compulsory for independent films. It is only recommended and practically mandatory for only theatrical cinema releases.

The BBFC classification process is voluntary. Only cinemas need the certification to operate legally.

Our film ratings uses the BBFC recommended ratings which are 'U', 'PG', '12, '15' and '18'.

We only use our film ratings symbols for our digital streaming releases on our platform and not for our theatrical cinema releases.

U: Universal. Suitable for all. For audiences of all ages.

PG: Parental Guidance. Suitable for general viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for younger children.

12: Home video release and digital streaming release suitable for 12 years and older.

12A: 12A is a BBFC certificate rating. Cinema release suitable for those aged 12 and over, those under 12 may attend accompanied by an adult. A cinema release rating would be certified by the BBFC.

15: Suitable only for 15 years and over.

18: Suitable only for adults.

Age ratings can help parents decide if films are right for their family.
